Medical Director
Dr Clare Boothroyd MBBS (Hons) M Med Sci FRACP FRANZCOG CREI has been instrumental in the birth of hundreds of IVF babies and she has dedicated her life to the treatment of infertility, training new clinicians in the field and improving treatments for fertility problems. Previously an IVF specialist at Sunnybank Hospital in Brisbane and with over twenty years experience in the field, Dr Boothroyd is one of three clinicians in Queensland to hold the prestigious Certificate of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI). She has been the Chair of Gynaecology at Greenslopes Private Hospital for the last seven years, Queensland Councillor of the Australasian Menopause Society and is a Member of the Medical Advisory Committee of the Family Planning Association of Queensland. Dr Boothroyd’s specialist interests include treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome, pituitary disease, endometriosis, fibroids, male infertility and all aspects of infertility.
Dr Boothroyd's unique qualifications in both endocrinology and gynaecology allow her to provide patients with the best possible care in infertility treatment. She has been instrumental in training doctors in best practice in infertility management for many years for the benefit of Queensland couples and continues to do so as Director of Training in gynaecology at Greenslopes Private Hospital and also has a trainee in endocrinology affiliated with her practice. She is a member of the CREI committee of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and has been an examiner for several years for the CREI. She runs many courses and lectures on the management of infertility and related conditions. She has been a member of the Ethics Committee at Greenslopes Private Hospital and actively engages in clinical research. She is one of the founding members of REACT – a collaborative effort of leaders in infertility in Australian and New Zealand to research and answer key questions in infertility treatment and diagnoses.

Affiliated Infertility Specialist
Dr Stephen Cattanach MBBS FRANZCOG is an experienced consultant interested in infertility and obstetrics. He completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne and his clinical training at the General Hospital of Heidelberg and the Austin Hospital in Victoria. After spending 18 months practicing in Ireland, Dr Cattanach returned to Australia to take up a position as a Clinical Lecturer and then Consultant in Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the Mater Mothers’ Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital and Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital. In 2000, he set up in private practice at the Mater Mothers’ and Mater Private Hospital, and spent a year working at Monash IVF at Sunnybank Private Hospital. He is currently a Visiting Medical Officer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Mater Mothers’ and Adult Hospitals, Greenslopes Private Hospital and Sunnybank Private Hospital.
Dr Cattanach joined Assisted Conception Australia in 2008 and his interests include Obstetrics and Gynaecology, infertility, laparoscopic surgery and pelvic floor surgery: he also assists in the training and development of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in neighbouring countries. He is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and was secretary of the Queensland branch from 2005-2006. He is also a member of many fertility and gynaecological associations and societies including the Fertility Society of Australia, Australian Medical Association, National Association of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the Pacific Society for Reproductive Health.

Endocrinology Registrar
Dr Penny Wolski MBBS (Hons) graduated from The University of Queensland in 1999 with Honours and is currently a final year Endocrinology registrar, in the process of completing her training at Greenslopes Hospital in 2009. Previous specialty training posts have included the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Penny is trained in all aspects of Endocrine disease, including those abnormalities, which commonly contribute to infertility such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, pituitary dysfunction and thyroid disorders. In addition, she has experience in the care of medically complex pregnancies, having spent several years training under the supervision of the Obstetric Medicine Unit at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. In this setting, Penny was involved in the care of pregnant women with diabetes, thyroid disorders, hypertension, pre-eclampsia, heart disease and clotting disorders amongst many other general medical conditions which complicate pregnancy.

Obstetrics and Gynaecology Registrar
Dr Elizabeth Varughese MBBS, MD, DGO, MRCOG is joining Greenslopes Private Hospital as a senior registrar in Gynaecology from February 2010.
Dr Varughese completed her graduation and postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from India. She has also attained membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (UK).
After moving to Australia she worked as a registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Royal Darwin Hospital. Her experience in the Northern Territory has kick-started her career as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist in Australia. She now joins Greenslopes Private Hospital to complete her final year towards the college requirements for attaining a fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
She is passionate about her job and believes in providing high quality care for her patients, assisting couples in fulfilling their dreams for a child.
Her special areas of interest are Reproductive Medicine and Gynae-Oncology.
