| | |  | Medical Director Dr Clare Boothroyd MBBS (Hons) M Med Sci FRACP FRANZCOG CREI has been instrumental in the birth of hundreds of IVF babies and she has dedicated her life to the treatment of infertility, training new clinicians in the field and improving treatments for fertility problems. Previously an IVF specialist at Sunnybank Hospital in Brisbane and with over twenty years experience in the field, Dr Boothroyd is one of three clinicians in Queensland to hold the prestigious Certificate of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI). She has been the Chair of Gynaecology at Greenslopes Private Hospital for the last seven years, Queensland Councillor of the Australasian Menopause Society and is a Member of the Medical Advisory Committee of the Family Planning Association of Queensland. Dr Boothroyd’s specialist interests include treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome, pituitary disease, endometriosis, fibroids, male infertility and all aspects of infertility. Dr Boothroyd's unique qualifications in both endocrinology and gynaecology allow her to provide patients with the best possible care in infertility treatment. She has been instrumental in training doctors in best practice in infertility management for many years for the benefit of Queensland couples and continues to do so as Director of Training in gynaecology at Greenslopes Private Hospital and also has a trainee in endocrinology affiliated with her practice. She is a member of the CREI committee of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and has been an examiner for several years for the CREI. She runs many courses and lectures on the management of infertility and related conditions. She has been a member of the Ethics Committee at Greenslopes Private Hospital and actively engages in clinical research. She is one of the founding members of REACT – a collaborative effort of leaders in infertility in Australia and New Zealand to research and answer key questions in infertility treatment and diagnoses. | | | |  | Scientific Director Dr Steven Fleming BSc (Hons) MSc PhD has a wealth of experience in the area of Assisted Reproduction. From 1998-2008, he was the Scientific Director of Westmead Fertility Centre at Westmead Hospital in Sydney. Other positions he has held include Senior Lecturer in Reproductive Medicine at the University of Sydney, Visiting Professor at the University of Ulster, and Lecturer in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University of Nottingham, where he established the world’s first Master’s degree in Assisted Reproduction Technology (ART) with Dr Simon Fishel. He is involved in the accreditation of IVF centres throughout Australia and has acted as a consultant to centres in Egypt, Greece, Israel, Jordan, Malaysia and Thailand. In addition Dr Fleming has been extensively involved in IVF research, specifically into sperm preparation techniques, egg maturation, early embryo development and implantation, as a means to improve fertility treatments in the future. In this capacity, he has been the recipient of research grants from the Fertility Society of Australia and the National Health & Medical Research Council, and has supervised scientists obtaining their PhD in embryology and reproductive biology. Dr Fleming is the author of a book plus numerous book chapters and journal articles, and has received invitations to speak at and chair sessions at national and international conferences. He is committed to quality management in the IVF laboratory and strives to optimise conditions for fertilisation and safe embryo culture in the laboratory setting. Dr Fleming is delighted to have a purpose built state-of-the-art laboratory to assist couples in their endeavours to have a healthy family. |
